Saint George's Welcomes New Executive Head Mr Murphy
As of January 2024, Mr Simon Murphy has now officially taken on the role of Executive Head of Saint George's CofE All-Through School.
A Message from Mr Murphy:
Dear Saint George's Parents and Carers,
I hope you enjoyed a happy and peaceful Christmas.
Having written to you all last term to share our very successful Ofsted report, I am delighted now to be writing to you officially as the new Executive Headteacher of Saint George's Church of England School, from 1st January 2024. I look forward to meeting you all over the coming weeks and months as we work together to live out the school's vision: All Equal, All Different, All Flourishing.
I am very grateful for the enthusiastic welcome I have received, a Christian welcome full of hope and optimism. To be part of an all-through community where we see children learn, grow and develop from the age of 4 all the way up to 18 is a true privilege. I am grateful too for the continued support of Governors and Trustees and particularly for the outstanding leadership of the outgoing Executive Headteacher Mr Steve Carey, who has built such a strong and lasting legacy here at the school. Mr Carey continues to lead the Trust in his role as CEO, of course.
My own values align strongly with those of our school and of the Aletheia Academies Trust; that we should offer all children from our local community the opportunities and success that educational excellence brings, so that children might flourish intellectually, morally, socially and spiritually. This strong ethos will not be lost under my leadership and I will work hard with all pupils and staff, and you as parents and carers, to continue to make this a tangible reality at Saint George's. Whether your child has recently started their journey with us in Reception or they are preparing for the next steps into education, training or employment, their enjoyment, well-being and educational outcomes matter to me and to the great teaching and support staff here at the school.
The Church of England's vision for education notes that when we flourish we do so together as part of a thriving community. As such, I am looking forward to your strong support as Saint George’s parents and carers over the coming years as we foster a culture of high expectation and achievement for all children. With this in mind, I reminded our staff recently that we should love our children unconditionally, support them compassionately, enable them (very) ambitiously and champion our school and its community relentlessly; through this letter, I invite you to do the same.
Yours Sincerely,
Mr Simon Murphy
