An Evening of Songs Celebrating Ten Years of Aletheia
The Woodville was abuzz on Tuesday 26th March 2024, with the melodious celebration of Aletheia's remarkable journey through music. With the meticulous organisation from the Headteacher of St Botolph’s C of E Primary School, Mrs Amy Chitty, and the skilled guidance of Stone St. Mary’s C of E School’s Headteacher, Mrs Jane Rolfe, alongside the eloquent presentation by Saint George’s Secondary Phase Headboy, George Duffort, our annual Trust Choir Concert unfolded seamlessly and joyously.
The children and staff travelled from their schools to Gravesend and rehearsals were in full swing from 2 pm. At 6 pm, the doors opened, welcoming the excited audience to a night filled with musical delight. The concert opened with a merry rendition of "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang, performed by the entire choir. Each school then took turns presenting a song from every year of the last decade.
From Halling Primary School's infectious interpretation of "Happy" by Pharrell Williams to Cliffe Woods Primary School's uplifting performance of "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors, each song evoked nostalgic memories. We grooved through the years with Horton Kirby C of E Primary School's energetic "Uptown Funk" by Bruno Mars and Saint George’s Secondary Phase's lively "Can’t Stop the Feeling" by Justin Timberlake. Rosherville C of E Academy stirred our emotions with "This is Me" from "The Greatest Showman," while we moved to Saint George’s Primary Phase’s performance of "Shotgun" by George Ezra.
As the evening went on, Sedley’s C of E Primary School warmed our hearts with "Someone You Loved" by Lewis Capaldi, and Stone St. Mary’s C of E Primary School delighted us with "Rain on Me" by Lady Gaga. Ditton C of E Junior School's rendition of "Easy on Me" by Adele and St Botolph’s C of E Primary School's energetic delivery of "Bad Habits" by Ed Sheeran kept the ambiance going. Sutton-at-Hone C of E Primary School's choice of "Flowers" by Miley Cyrus and Holy Trinity C of E Primary School's lively rendition of "Dance the Night" by Dua Lipa added the perfect touch to the evening's repertoire of songs.
All the children reassembled for a delightful rendition of "10 Green Bottles," followed by the warm voices of the Trust Staff Choir singing a crowd favourite, "Oh Happy Day”. To wrap up the brilliant evening, the choir sang "Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship and a special medley of "We are the Champions/Stand Up for the Champions" by Queen/ Right Said Fred.
As the final notes gently faded, a sense of pride and joy filled the air. The evening was about more than just the music; it was a celebration of community, resilience, and Aletheia's extraordinary journey so far. Special thanks to all the staff, the wonderful children and everyone who played a part in the success of this year’s concert. Cheers to many more decades of dedication to our mission of providing the best life chances for children in our local community!
